Training

Regina Boxing Club offers training sessions for registered members 3 evening a week, throughout the boxing season. A typical season runs from September through May. Amateur boxing demands that an athlete work to achieve and maintain a high level of physical fitness and dedication to learning and implementing boxing skills. Training sessions are intended to assist the athlete in achieving a level of physical fitness and technical ability which results in an opportunity to box competitively. The gym is open for workouts Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Regular Training Sessions

The routine workout is led by an experienced member and includes stretching, abdominal toning, flexibility exercises for approximately 20 minutes.

Following these warm-up activities, two groups are formed. One group will spend 20 minutes involved in a variable jog/run, which also includes other exercises during the activity. Group two is led by a coach and will complete circuit training of 5 rounds, each lasting 3 minutes.

Following completion of the jogging and circuit training, time is devoted to learning the basics of the sport. These include stance, punching technique, foot work, offensive and defensive maneuvers, Athletes are able to practice this during shadow boxing. Athletes with more experience will spend time on bag work, skipping focus pads and sparring.

The workout concludes with a 10 minute warm down.
